About/Rules

About us
Hello everyone! This is Larkynn. I've seen groups dedicated to trading llamas, trading art but not one for trading critiques. Thus Critique-Trade was born. I hope for everyone to get better at writing critiques and, of course, using critiques on getting better at their artwork. Now, I am new to being a group admin and this is my first group so if anyone has any question, comments, or concerns feel free to send me a note.

Rules
:bulletred: Up to three submissions per day. (Subject to change as the group grows.)
:bulletorange: Art must be in compliance with DeviantArt's rules and regulations.
:bulletyellow: Please try to submit to the correct folder. Feel free to ask if you do not know which folder something needs to go into. Only submit your best works into the feature folder.
:bulletgreen: Please be kind in your critiques. There is constructive criticism and there is just being plain mean. There will be journals and link posted soon on how to give good comments/critiques.
:bulletblue: If someone doesn't have the ability to ask critiques (non-subscribers), then leave nice long critique like comments. (More on that later)
:bulletpurple: On the group comment page, you may ask for critiques and post a link to the artwork you wish to be critiqued. When someone responds or critiques, ask them which piece they would like you to critique.
:bulletpink: Please when you receive a critique, give one back. Remember the whole part of this group is to give and receive critiques.

Rules are subject to change. If there is any major rule change, a notice will be sent out to all members on the change.

[Discussion] Let's Talk About...Critiques

Hello everyone!  Thank you all for coming
I'm ethanoI, one of the critics here at Recolor-Evolution.  From my critiques you probably think I'm a harsh old bugger, but I'm really not ^^; I promise!
Anyway, let's get to the point.
Today, I want to discuss what makes a good critique.  In my time here, I've noticed that good quality feedback on this site is fairly hard to come by.  This is in no way a criticism, and not targeted at anyone in particular.  I bring this up merely as a way of illustrating my point.  So...what is it that makes a critique good?  Hopefully I can clarify a few things, as well as giving pointers to how you can make your own critiques stronger and more constructive.
Step 1: Structure
Just as a simple example of what I mean, take a look at one of my more recent critiques.  You don't ha

Stretching in Your Character Design: Variance

:icondramaticdeanplz: Hey guys! I'm here to give some tips every once in a while to help everyone improve and grow creatively. Feel free to submit any specific ideas for new topics, or specific questions you had about today's topic, etc, in the comments. Otherwise I'll throw out some ideas every once in a while on helping readers improve in various areas. Read, digest, and if you can, apply and try to see if my tips can help you. ^^ :iconquillplz:
Stretching in Your Character Design
Today’s topic: Variance
Everybody has characters, no matter if their medium is a paintbrush, the keyboard, a pencil, or a tablet. They can be animals, people, fantasy creatures, and etc. Designing a character (either entirely original or based in a predetermined canon) is the beginning of the creation of your work's story. No matter where you feel you are concerning skill and practice at designing your characters, we all have room to improve. On

I believe that I should offer an apology to everyone, a long overdue apology.

I had grand ideas when I started this group however soon after the start of this endeavor,  I changed colleges and majors and my work load drastically increased. Thus I haven't been on DeviantArt for about 6+ months. So I wish a warm welcome to everyone that has joined within that time. However I'm not sure how much activity will go on since I do not have the time to take care of this group.  If someone who has the time and knowledge of taking care of a group wishes to help or take over, please send a note and we can talk. Once again I am so sorry about the lack of activity and I wish I could have made this group what I dreamed.

Sorry everyone.

Also when you go into a gallery folder, up at the top is a button that says to submit to that folder. You should be able to automatically submit to that folder. If not I'll figure out how to change the settings.

Go ahead and submit it to the feature folder. From there I can see on how to change it to the other folders. Since we are a small group, it is not that big of a problem.

Sorry about the lack of clarity, I'm new to managing a group. ^^;
